From Army Officer to Senior Manager: MBA graduate yearned for business world experience

With a desire to work with real companies on real problems, Mr Minion enrolled in the Adelaide Master of Business Administration (MBA).

“I was seeking a university that would have credibility nationally and with a focus on student interaction. The University of Adelaide was able to provide me with that opportunity and being a sandstone University brought the credibility I was seeking,” he said.

Graduating in 2016, the Adelaide MBA facilitated Mr Minion’s exposure to several different businesses to support such endeavours.

“It also opened the door to my first role after the defence force, which was consulting in a big four accounting firm.”

Mr Minion stayed in this role for four consecutive years before moving into his current role as Senior Manager at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, working in Operational Risk.

“The subjects I have reflected on and used the most after completion of the MBA have been the soft skills taught during the early stages of the course; these have helped me greatly in being more adaptive to situations in all contexts.”Scott Minion

Mr Minion said the most satisfying part of the degree was engaging with like-minded peers.

“The most enjoyable part of the degree was studying alongside people looking to take the next step in their career and wanting a better understanding of business holistically, as well seeking personal development,” he said.
