Hosted by experts from Biogen Inc. and Australian eChallenge, the Biogen Neurohack is a fast-paced, solution-focused, ‘hackathon’ where bright minds come together to create unique and innovative concepts to improve the quality of life for teenagers living with a neurological disorder.
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide live with neurological disorders. Neurological diseases effect the central and peripheral nervous system, impacting an individual’s ability to move, speak, swallow, breathe, and/or learn. There are over 600 types of neurological disorders including muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.
For many teenagers living with neurological disorders their disease sees them reliant on parents and care-givers. Their condition disrupts the common progression of independence most young people look forward to.
But you can make a difference.
Participants in the Biogen Neurohack have a real opportunity to genuinely improve the lives of young people living with neurological disorders. 4 x $1500 prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
How does the Neurohack work?
The program will incorporate workshops and formal mentoring sessions with expert practitioners, to accelerate you through the process of creating, developing, assessing and executing your idea/s. I’m not an expert. Can I still help?
You do not need to be a neuroscience expert to participate. In fact, ‘hacks’ are enhanced when a diverse range of people with assorted skills-sets get together. Creative thinkers from a diverse disciplines often identify the most impressive, holistic solutions.
I’ve never participated in a Hackathon before…
No problem! Throughout the Biogen Neurohack you will be mentored by industry leaders that will guide you to identify opportunities, and work with you to bring your idea to life.
Could my participation actually make a difference?
Absolutely! You’ll be pitching your idea to a panel of judges that work in industry. If you’re further inspired, you can take up opportunities to further explore commercialisation of your idea, and get financial backing to see it realised through the Biogen Australian eChallenge which kicks off on 30 July.
