A graduate of our Master of Wine Business program, Igor Beron, shares his experience studying at the University of Adelaide.

Igor Pimto

Why did you choose your degree at the University of Adelaide?
The University of Adelaide has an incredible reputation in the wine industry all around the world. I have been studying wines for many years and wanted to keep on this path. Several winemakers and marketers have inspired me in this journey have studied there and this definitely had a big impact when choosing to study my Masters of Wine Business.

Did you undertake any work experience whilst studying at the University?
I worked at a wine shop/bar called East End Cellars. It was a valuable experience.

What did you enjoy about your degree?
I have done the WSET Diploma before, and my masters have expanded my horizons in regards to everything that is business-related inside the incredibly vast industry of wine. Today I run a wine business and I feel confident with my daily decision making processes as I’ve learned from professors who were references in their field and were extremely capable of teaching the tricky paths of such a complex industry.

What job role do you have now and what kind of work does that involve?
When I was about to finish my degree I was invited to be a part-owner at a new project called Wines by Heart here in Portugal. We import and distribute wines from all over the globe (including big names such as Domaine Ponsot, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, Soldera, Gravner) and now we have a wine shop/bar.
