Dr Alex Belli joins the Adelaide Business School
The Adelaide Business School is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Alex Belli as a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Adelaide.
With extensive interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in the field of consumer behaviour and cross-cultural marketing, Dr Alex Belli is set to boost research and teaching in this increasingly important field of business.
Alex will be teaching our new Bachelor of Business (Digital Marketing and Communication) as well as continuing his exciting research.
“As an early career academic, I am very excited to join Adelaide Business School due to its focus on quality research and teaching excellence. I am looking forward to getting inspired by my future colleagues and thriving in this fantastic environment while also adding ‘my own flavour’ or ‘twist’ to the marketing department,” he said.
A graduate of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy, and Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Alex earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia. As a graduate student in 2017, Alex was also crowned the overall winner of the UTS 3 Minute Thesis competition.
Most recently, he was a lecturer and academic tutor at the University of Technology, Sydney, where his passion for teaching earned him accolades and awards. From gifs to playlists, Alex is known for curating interactive and engaging classroom learning experiences for his students.

As a researcher, Alex uses a mix of meta-analysis and experimental research to investigate consumer decision-making and its effects on well-being as well the role of online social influence and interactions on consumption.
“I think that the biggest problem in academia right now centres on the concept of impact. However, thus far there is still no clear or black-on-white definition of it. I think that leveraging education and relationships with companies/entrepreneurs is key to attaining impactful marketing research and education,” he said.
“Through these relationships, not only can we come up with better and more meaningful research questions that would benefit the academic community as well as the society at large, but we can also better align the needs of employers with the skills that we offer to our graduates.”
Head of the Marketing Discipline, Professor Jodie Conduit, is excited to have Alex joining the team:
“Alex brings an extra dimension to our team in the area of consumer decision-making and enables us to extend our expertise in meta-analyses and experimental research. Our students are really going to enjoy Alex’s innovative and engaging teaching style and we look forward to him developing and delivering some exciting new courses for the Bachelor of Business (Digital Marketing and Communication).
Dr Alex Belli will be commencing in June 2021.
